Mikes Thoughts

When its coffee time

First off in my mornings are some coffee in the house. The water boils and I decide that I should finish up when I want and then head out the door for some walk with a spell down some street for coffee. I love the indecision when I leave. I have a few different ways I can walk. Any of the ways lead to the first part of my morning. Seeing Siem Reap in the mornings. Feeling these cooler morning temperatures makes my day. It will warm up but first off I find the steps to take me whatever way.

Sometimes I go look at Google Maps. I like taking stock of the places. Occasionally I decide to go downtown and get a tuktuk to take me some place. That’s nice too. Let’s be honest though. Siem Reap has a wonderful variety of places to go from little coffee shacks where the coffee comes in under $1 to nice places where it’s almost $2. I’ll pay even more if I decide it should be Temple Bakery and Coffee downtown. I just will not usually do Brown Coffee or Starbucks. It was like in Vietnam before. We had Starbucks but most Vietnamese people would not go. It always seemed the better places always were the local shops where conversation spilled out onto sidewalks. The young and old found their edge. I could sit at one by where I lived and just watch.

It’s the same here. Part of the joy I think is deciding when it is time to go. Leaving here is never a challenge. This morning I decided to write a bit before I go for some reason.
